Hayley Dredge - Harpist

Hayley Dredge was born in Southampton. She began playing the harp at the age of ten and in 1991 gained a place on the Hampshire Specialist Music Course in Winchester. In 1994 she was awarded a Scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1998 having been awarded the Renata Scheffel-Stein Prize and the Dorothy Day Award. Hayley completed her studies with Skaila Kanga on the Post-Graduate Performers Course the in 1999, also at the Royal Academy.
Her orchestral work has included performances with City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, (2006. 2005 and The Proms 2004) the Philharmonia, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, European Union Youth Orchestra, London Gala Orchestra, English Symphony Orchestra, New Mozart Orchestra and Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra.
Recent theatre work has included The Voysey Inheritance (National Theatre), The Producers (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane), His Dark Materials, (National Theatre), My Fair Lady, (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane), The King and I (London Palladium), Elergies (Pleasance Theatre, London), Wind in the Willows and Shakespeare’s The Tempest both at the Nuffield Theatre, Southampton.
Hayley has also performed with the Northern Ballet Theatre (Wuthering Heights and Madame Butterfly), Royal Ballet Sinfonia (La Fille ma Garde), Matthew Bourne (Nutcracker), Moscow City Ballet (Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Giselle and Cinderella)
Concerto performances include the Handel Harp Concerto with 21 other professional harpists with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales at St. David’s Hall, Cardiff and a performance of the Mozart Flute and Harp Concerto with the Bath Philharmonia.
Hayley has recorded Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols with the Royal Holloway College University Choir. She also has worked with Black Dyke Brass Band and Bit 20 (Norway’s contemporary music ensemble).
Hayley has been a Classical Soloist on the Fred Olsen cruise ships since 2000. Hayley is also a member of the London Classical Trio (Flute, Viola and Harp), and the London Classical Duo (Flute and Harp).
As a background musician, she regularly plays for weddings, parties, corporate functions, restaurants, and hotels including venues such as The Landmark, Sofitel, The Kai Restaurant, The Langham Hilton and The Park Lane Hilton. Hayley is the recommended harpist at The Royal Berkshire Hotel and Rhinefield House Hotel.
Hayley is also a keen jazz harpist playing with Frances Rufflé at Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club in 1998 and attended the First European Jazz Harp Festival in Germany in 2000 with tutors Park Stickney and Harvey Griffin.
Hayley also teaches harp at the London Oratory School.
